Frequently Asked Questions
Can you obtain an Italian birth certificate for my ancestor?
Yes. If you provide your ancestor's name, approximate date of birth, and Italian town of birth, I can determine the appropriate record to request and obtain it directly from the relevant Italian municipality.
If you do not know the exact town of birth, I may be able to conduct preliminary genealogical research to identify the correct municipality.
Can you obtain documents for Italian citizenship by descent?
Yes. I can obtain official Italian birth, marriage, death, citizenship, residence, and other records that may be required for an Italian citizenship-by-descent application.
Requirements can vary depending on your individual case and the authority handling your application, so you should always confirm exactly which documents and formats are required.
What if I don't know exactly where my ancestor was born in Italy?
I may be able to help identify the correct Italian town through genealogical research using civil records, parish records, immigration information, military records, and other available sources.
Once the correct municipality has been identified, I can determine how to obtain the appropriate record.
Can you research Italian records that are not available online?
Yes. This is one of the main advantages of working with a genealogist based in Italy.
When records have not been digitized or are not accessible online, I can conduct research directly through Italian municipalities, State Archives, diocesan archives, parishes, and other local repositories.
Can you obtain an Apostille for Italian documents?
When applicable, I can assist with obtaining an Apostille for Italian documents that require authentication for use abroad.
Do you work with clients outside Italy?
Yes. I work with individuals, families, genealogists, attorneys, and other professionals worldwide, including clients in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and other countries.
