The Long-form Marriage Certificate (Estratto di Matrimonio) is the certificate that asserts the validity of the record of marriage and contains identifying details for the husband and wife, the date and place of marriage and additional (optional) annotations such as address, citizenship, the statutory matrimonial regime (separation or community of property), and divorce if applicable.
The LONG-FORM MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE is one of the documents required to submit a request for citizenship or dual citizenship (see also LONG-FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE (ESTRATTO DI NASCITA).

In contrast to the long-form marriage certificate, the short-form marriage certificate contains and certifies solely the information appearing on the record of marriage, the identifying details of the husband and wife, and the date and place of marriage as transcribed in the vital records register. MULTI-LINGUAL LONG-FORM MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

The multi-lingual long-form marriage certificate (estratto di Matrimonio multilingua or estratto di matrimonio plurilingue) is the document issued for use overseas and does not normally require translation.
THE MULTI-LINGUAL LONG-FORM MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE is recognized in the following countries: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Moldova, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia Montenegro, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey.
An apostille can be added on request to the short-form certificates, long-form certificates and full copies of the record of marriage.

The Full Copy of the Record of Marriage (Copia Integrale dell' Atto di Matrimonio) is the photocopy of the record appearing in the vital records register, authenticated and signed by the vital records officer, showing the first names and surnames, and places and dates of birth, of the spouses, and the date of their marriage.
Often, in the annotations (information) in the margins of the FULL COPY OF THE RECORD OF MARRIAGE, the name of the parish where the marriage was celebrated is shown, along with the name of the church, residence and citizenship information, and the statutory matrimonial regime (separation or community of property), and divorce if applicable.
